Essential Wedding
Florist Questions

We encourage you to interview two or more wedding florists to get an idea of their differences, similarities and capabilities. These essential wedding florist questions will get you started — remember to take notes as you go, so you can compare the answers later.

How far in advance should I book you?

We recommend booking your wedding florals 8-12 months before your big day. This timeline allows us to fully understand your vision, secure the freshest blooms, and carefully plan every detail to bring your dream florals to life.

However, our schedule often starts to fill up as early as 12 months in advance, especially during peak wedding seasons. If you have a specific date or a unique floral design in mind, reaching out as early as possible ensures that we can reserve your spot and provide the personalized service you deserve.

That said, we always do our best to accommodate new clients, so if your date is sooner, don’t hesitate to reach out! We’d love to see how we can make it work.

How many events do you do on a weekend?

Our capacity depends on the size and complexity of each event. For more elaborate designs or large-scale installations, we may dedicate an entire weekend to a single wedding to ensure every detail is flawless.

However, with our skilled team and efficient processes, we can comfortably accommodate up to four weddings in a single weekend. This balance allows us to maintain our high standards while providing each couple with the personalized attention their wedding deserves.

Of course, every event is unique, so if you have a particularly large or intricate vision, we recommend reaching out early to discuss your needs and secure your date.

Do you only work through a wedding planner?

While we absolutely love collaborating with talented wedding planners – as it helps streamline communication and ensures your day runs seamlessly – it’s not a requirement. We’re more than happy to work directly with couples who are planning their own weddings.

However, if you haven’t found the perfect planner yet, we’d be thrilled to share our trusted recommendations. We have the privilege of working alongside some of the best planners in the Kansas City area, and we’d be happy to connect you with someone who matches your style and vision.

How long have you been doing this?

Years of professional experience, specifically for weddings, means you have a partner who can help you pull off a large-scale wedding in a significant venue. A seasoned florist will not only have a portfolio of past work but also the expertise to navigate unexpected challenges, such as a short supply of flowers or weather issues. If you’re considering working with someone new, make sure you’re comfortable with their training, artistic vision or past projects to see what they’re capable of.

What’s your signature style? Do you offer mockups before the wedding?

Yes, we do offer mockups! They’re a great way for you to see your vision come to life before the big day.

As for our style, it’s hard to pin down just one. We believe that every wedding should be a true reflection of the couple, so we embrace a wide range of styles – from modern, minimalist designs to lush, garden-inspired creations. Whether you’re dreaming of a classic white palette or a bold, colorful celebration, we love the creative freedom each couple brings to the table.

Ultimately, our goal is to create florals that feel uniquely you, capturing the essence of your love story through thoughtful, artful design.

What happens to the flowers after the wedding?

After the celebration, many couples wonder what to do with their beautiful blooms. Given the scale of most weddings, it’s common for flowers to be left behind, but there are some meaningful ways to extend their life.

One option is to arrange a donation to a local hospital, nursing home, or charity, where your flowers can bring a bit of joy to others. We recommend reaching out to local organizations before your wedding to coordinate these donations, as some places have specific guidelines.

Alternatively, you can encourage your guests, family, and friends to take arrangements home as a special reminder of your day. This way, your flowers can continue to spread beauty and happiness long after the final dance.

What makes you different from other wedding florists?

We don’t just design flowers – we create experiences. Our approach is deeply personal, combining luxury design with a commitment to capturing the unique essence of each couple’s story.

Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Personalized Design – We take the time to understand your vision, weaving your style and personality into every arrangement, from the bridal bouquet to the grandest installations.

  • Attention to Detail – We pride ourselves on our meticulous craftsmanship, ensuring every petal, stem, and ribbon is perfectly placed.

  • Comprehensive Service – With a team of skilled designers, we handle everything from initial concept to final installation, ensuring a seamless, stress-free experience.

  • Exclusive Aesthetic – Our designs are known for their luxury style, combining the freshest blooms with artistic flair to create unforgettable moments.

  • Strong Vendor Relationships – We work closely with some of the best planners, photographers, and venues in Kansas City, ensuring your entire wedding day is beautifully coordinated.

When you work with us, you’re not just booking a florist – you’re choosing a creative partner dedicated to making your day as extraordinary as you’ve imagined.

What flowers are in season for my wedding date?

Don’t just take their word for it. Ask to see their portfolio of weddings held near the same date as yours and talk about the flowers in the photographs. There’s a definite advantage to using seasonal flowers – you can read our thoughts about it here.

Have you designed weddings at my venue before?

While not essential, it can be a significant advantage if your florist has prior experience of your chosen venue. A florist familiar with the venue’s layout, lighting, and unique characteristics will already have a sense of what works best in its spaces. For example, they may know which areas benefit from larger statement pieces, where a floral accent might bring out architectural details, or how to manage any logistical challenges the venue presents, such as limited access points or setup restrictions.

This wedding florist question can also reveal if the floral designer has an established relationship with the venue owners or staff, as there is less chance of missed signals or miscommunication. Your florist will already be familiar with the venue’s policies on setup and teardown, timing requirements, and any restrictions on certain materials (like candles or hanging installations).

If your florist hasn’t worked at the venue before, don’t worry. They will want to do an incredible job for you. Ask if they’re willing to visit the site beforehand to get a feel for the space, identify any potential challenges, and discuss ideas with you or your planner.

Do you provide rentals, like vases, arches or other decorative items?

Absolutely! Our extensive collection of vases, arches, and decorative pieces is available to all our clients. Whether you’re looking for sleek glass vases, vintage ceramics, or statement arches, we have a wide variety to choose from.

And if there’s a specific style or item you have in mind that we don’t currently carry, we’ll do our best to source it for you. We’re committed to bringing your vision to life, down to the smallest detail.

Do you handle delivery, setup, and teardown? Are these priced separately?

Yes, we handle all aspects of delivery, setup, and teardown to ensure your day is seamless.

  • Delivery and Setup – This is included as a single, all-in-one fee, covering everything from transporting your florals to carefully setting them up at your venue.

  • Teardown – This is priced separately, as it involves removing all installations, centerpieces, and decor at the end of your event.

  • Room Flips – If you’re transitioning from a ceremony to a reception in the same space, we can assist with this as well. It’s an optional service, depending on the complexity of moving your designs.

Do you require a deposit? Is it refundable?

Yes, we require a 20% deposit to secure your wedding date and begin the design process. This deposit allows us to reserve your flowers, schedule our design team, and ensure your date is prioritized.

Please note that this deposit is non-refundable, as it covers the initial planning, flower sourcing, and design preparation for your event.

What is your backup plan for last-minute changes or substitutions?

As a Midwest-based floral studio, we’re no strangers to unpredictable weather and last-minute challenges. While some factors may be out of our control, we are well-prepared to adapt and ensure your wedding day is as beautiful as you’ve envisioned.

We maintain close relationships with multiple flower wholesalers and local growers, allowing us to quickly source high-quality substitutions if needed. Additionally, our design team is experienced in pivoting designs to accommodate unexpected changes while maintaining the overall look and feel of your event.

From adjusting ceremony setups for weather changes to selecting alternative blooms if a particular variety is unavailable, our priority is to make sure you’re fully taken care of, no matter what the day brings.
